In Greece, the Environmental Compatibility of a project considered that ensured by submitting an Environmental impact assessment study and the publication of the respective environmental conditions. Environmental conditions are approved by the competent Greek authority and include a list of measures for environmentally friendly project management.
Environmental impact studies (MPE), include a description of the project, the relevant legal framework, the current situation of the environment, potential impacts, and alternatives, suggestions or constraints with which the project must operate and be constructed. So before anyone can go into a project task us to prepare the MPE, which is going to be approved by the competent authority. The study is available to every citizen who cares to give its opinion on the project. At the end of any MPE exists a popular questionnaire so that the substance of the study to be understood by every citizen, regardless of their level of knowledge.
